A Sustainable Green Project
The Buildings
- Buildings will be constructed in a pre-existing open rock quarry
- Installation of rooftop solar panels for co-generation will account for 45% of site’s total electric consumption
- “Green concrete” will be used in the construction of all buildings on site, reducing the carbon footprint
- Walls and roof will be made with recycled materials
- Rainwater captured from rooftops will be predominant water source used for concrete processing
- All leftover material and slurry will be recycled inside site buildings
- All fabrication will be done inside site buildings
- LED lighting will be used for the building and site
- Interior ventilation will employ highly efficient dust collectors for continuous air filtration
- All manufacturing machinery installed will be state-of-the-art with high energy efficiency ratings
The Site
- Ambient dust dispersal will be limited by spraying grounds with collected rainwater
- New water filtration ponds will capture all stormwater particulate from the operation site
- Tree and wall sound and visual barriers will be installed at key locations nearest operations
The Product
- Pre-cast concrete will include post-waste crushed glass as an ingredient, representing a significant reduction of the overall carbon footprint.
- Excess material from site’s fabrication process will be continuously recycled
- Products made on site will be used locally in the Hudson Valley and Ulster County, significantly reducing transport fuel use.
